In whisperd hymns
and mumbling prayers.
Is Nicodemus still in vigil weeping?
Blow Your Trumpet Gabriel!
For Albion is rotten to the core.
Blow Your Trumpet Zachariel!
For Jerusalem has fallen.
Blow Your Trumpet Michael!
For We are All Sick with Love.
Blow Your Trumpet Raphael!
For there are Vipers in Our Dreams.
Blow Your Trumpet Selaphiel!
For All is Full of Hell.

If you missed the Celestial Son show at Dansehallerne, or if you want an opportunity to catch the show again, March 25th is that day. You can get tickets here. This promises to be a great evening. Franklin Zoo support, and visuals by Lasse Hoile and myself, with contributions from the theater group Tidsrum. There will be full screenings of the Flow of Creation, Deathwish, Divide and Conquer and others. I am delighted to contribute to the show, and it is highly recommended to catch Celestial Son live.
My novella Amerika is sold out at the publisher, but copies are available from these fine booksellers:
America has disappeared. Resources at the US Embassy in Copenhagen are a little stretched, and the extraordinary circumstances therefore require extraordinary measures, even if it means drawing upon the services of the world’s second greatest living detective – a disillusioned American expatriate called Mr. Denmark who is currently living in Copenhagen. Meanwhile, a travel writer called Mr. Sweden finds himself in a precarious position as the very subject matter of his next travel book seems to have disappeared. Copenhagen is gripped by a deep sense of unease. Bookshops and countries are disappearing, animals wearing Bowler hats are overrunning the city, the central immigration services have been beleaguered by tuxedo wearing penguins- infernal forces might be at work. And then there is that walking, talking Mauser-toting cat who might or might not be in cahoots with the Execrate Himself. A weird occult novella in homage to Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita.
Below is a piece of concept art that was not included in the book. The first five people who email me a picture of the book on their shelves will receive a signed copy of the artwork with a handwritten passage quoted on the reverse side, free, anywhere in the world. Email me your picture and postage address to sotjensen(at)gmail.com
Artwork will ship, and offer good through to February 1st, 2017.(If the world is still here)

We’re very excited to release the Flow of Creation video today on Halloween. The film originally premiered as a live visual for Celestial Son‘s concert on May 19th in Copenhagen this year. It was a particular treat to experience Celestial Son live, and see all the visual works presented at their show. The Flow of Creation was shot entirely in Stop Motion, and parts of the opening sequence of this film first appeared in Kilt Spirit, and has been expanded to the present film. A few shots in this film also previously appeared in the Figment Notebook, which we hope to release in the not too distant future. I am as always very lucky to have such amazing collaborators: Laura Beckmann, Chris Frandsen, Kindred Lansdown, Ted Haler and Cora Ripatti all made incredible contributions to what is often a painstaking process in shooting these stop motion works. And of course creating this film with Celestial Son’s amazing music is always a privilege and a wonderful collaborative experience. This is our fourth collaboration, and I am particularly excited about releasing this video to this epic music track. You can see the film below. Dedicated to F, in memoriam…

Here is a nifty GoPro video documenting the days leading up to Celestial Son’s live show in Dansehallerne.
Thursday May 19th, 8pm
”On the 19th of May at Dansehallerne‘s big stage we will play what undoubtedly will be our biggest and most ambitious show ever implementing live shadow theater, an incredible light show and insanely innovative visuals by some of the most praised and skilled international directors around today.
It is really a dream coming true and I can’t wait to show you what the team is working on behind the scenes. It is going to be an absolute stunner of a concert and I’m thrilled and honored to work alongside such talented people – among other the award winning L.A. based director Karim Ghaghwagi (Trentemøller, Efterklang and Kúra) who’s making visuals specially designed for this evening. The likewise internationally praised director Lasse Hoile (Opeth, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson….) will also bring his magic to the screen and behind the curtain members from the aspiring theater group Banyan will act live in a beautifully constructed shadow theater show.
There will only be a limited number of numbered tickets available to this special show, so if you wanna be sure to grab a ticket then don’t hesitate to follow this link:”

To the above from Celestial son, I just want to add that other press releases, particularly one on the venue’s own page, mention that I will be the evening’s VJ. While I will be at the show, and thrilled to be there, and excited to experience Celestial Son live in concert, Lasse Hoile and myself are leaving the VJ’ing in the capable hands of Jeppe Sølling, who will also contribute exciting visuals of his own.
I want to thank Laura Beckmann, Chris Frandsen, Ivan Hansen, Rasmus Sjøgren, Cora Ripatti, Kindred Lansdown and Ted Haler for their incredible performances featured in the films and music videos in the show.
This promises to be an exciting, very special night, and I look forward to seeing you there!

Our music video Death Wish, the third single taken from Celestial Son’s excellent album Saturn’s Return, is out today. Featuring performances by Rasmus Sjøgren (Divide and Conquer, All I Ever Wanted), Soren Castellanos (Monkey King), Cora Ripatti (Monkey King), and Chris Frandsen (Ligature Legislation). I am so lucky to be surrounded with such talented artists, and grateful that everyone was willing to take on this challenging, exciting shoot. Every character featured in this video has appeared in a previous stop motion film of mine, and we felt we wanted to try and push the envelope this time. Shot entirely in stop motion (over 17,000 stills in total were taken during shooting). This video was shot simultaneously with All I Ever Wanted (a 6000+ stills shoot), over a two week period. Additional photography was completed over a 4 week period. Saturn’s Return is out tomorrow! Go get it! See them live somewhere near you soon!
An exclusive and an article on the excellent Bands of Tomorrow site: ” Celestial Son release a beautiful, harsh video with a surprising ending” (In Danish) here
”Når man har set sommerens mesterstykker af videoer fra bandet, er forventningerne til den tredje video i rækken tårnhøje. Videoen til nummeret Death Wish lever dog ikke kun op til forventningerne – den overgår dem.”
On their facebook page, Celestial Son have just given an update on the Death Wish music video:
”So today we were supposed to present the next music video for the track Death Wish. The video is all ready to go but unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances we have been forced to push the premiere a little while.
But fear not, the plan is to premiere the video next week before the big release concert on Friday the 11th. at JAZZHOUSE.
More info and the exact date will follow soon.”
Today is the release day of my new music video All I Ever Wanted for Celestial Son taken from their excellent forthcoming album Saturn’s Return. All I Ever Wanted was shot in Los Angeles as a sync-sound stop motion film comprising of over 5000 hand cranked shots. This was an intense shooting experience, not least for Rasmus, who had to lip sync the entire song, frame by frame, using a second channel on a separate video monitor as a source. In order for each frame to line up one after the other, Rasmus had to remain completely still and perform the entire song over a marathon 6+ hours performance. It was an enormous challenge and an extraordinary and intense experience.
The Danish music magazine Gaffa is premiering the video on their site and have written an article about the video here. The article is in Danish, and describes the circumstances of the shoot mentioned here.
Julian Simmons asked me if I wanted to contribute some form of visual interpretation of any poem of my choice, in celebration of national poetry month. You can see his humorous introduction to the series below, in the guise of his brilliant character Asgarth Wilson.
I had so much fun doing the first piece, the poem Oculus by Vladimir Nabokov, that I decided to do a second short piece, an installation video, based on a poem by J.G. Siminsky called The Seeds, which you can also see below. I am sure that Julian is open to many more poems, and readings, and you can contribute to his channel. I want to thank Cora Ripatti and Elaine Smith, as always, for their contributions and readings.
In more video news there should be a couple of videos shot all the way last year, coming out in the early summer. Also, in collaboration with Kura, we have decided to release a trilogy of interconnected collage videos which were featured on their tour in support of their album Halfway to the Moon.
