Having felt alone and estranged from the world their whole lives, Ægir and Rán finally find each other and fall in love. To consummate their love, they dedicate themselves to the rejuvenation of an old 40 foot boat which they name The Bàrra. For the next ten years they explore the open seas together falling ever deeper in love. One day when at port in Scandinavia, they discover devastating news.
